Time to BLAST off!

2011 will start with a BAAANG for sure!

First, we have the Nike BLAST in Stockholm 29-30 january. The year can´t start in a better way that THAT! You will have the worlds best presenters for two days teaching amazing classes!

Besides those, I have inside info that the opening class with THIS little lady in the BIG room will be off the chain! Im gonna take it, and so will you I hope…

You have all seen it…. The ”tubby” trainer, and is still tubby although she/he is doing 5,6,7 or MORE classes a week! How can this be, training cardio that often and still be in worse shape than many participants?

For me as an instructor this was a mystery when I started teaching… Why did I not get more results? Im TRAINING MY ASS OF HERE!!!

I have written about this before at Fitness Magazines blog, but after getting back to sweden, I decided to write about it again. Cuz way to many instructors around the world are training to much, and don’t get any results and have no clue why!

Charles Poliquin and colleagues have identified The Chunky Aerobic Instructor Syndrome. Poliquin found that aerobics instructors quickly adapted to the workload of teaching classes, often performing three hours of exercise a day. Despite the fact that this is the equivalent training level of a professional athlete, the instructors still maintained disproportionately high body fat levels.  How do you break out of this and start getting results?

Well, Charles believe that You should implement a serious strength program, and stop doing or teaching so many cardio based classes. So, start eating more MEAT (or protein) more healty FAT, and get those weights off the ground!

I think It would be mandatory to do some kind of strength program if you are a professional instructor, you will FEEL better and stronger, INJURY yourself LESS and LOOK better in front of your participants, and be more credible in our role as instructors…

Cuz NOT ALL aerobic instructors are tubby, one of the best (and a dear friend) is THIS GUY and he is RIPPED, and still an awesome aerobic and step presenter. My favorite by far!

Finally some PROOF!

After reading an article in the latest International Journal Sports Physiology Performance, and I finally got some proof of something I have been thinking about…

MEN NEEDS MORE REST BETWEEN WORKOUTS THAN WOMEN!

The reason beeing argued that men can exert greater relative force (train harder…) than women and therefore needs more recovery time.

SWEET, now I finally have a reason to be a lazy ass…

Throwing up in my mouth…

Kind of a special feeling don´t you think? you know when you are beeing pushed WAY beyond your normal ”Oh I wanna stop cuz it hurts…” level.

I had the honor to take a class at Warrior Fitness Bootcamp on tuesday, and it really took me into a new level of understanding how much more I had to give when I thougt I was done. Great instructors (ex marines), an indoor obsticle course and the nasty 15 floor staircase we did twice, second time with two 20kg kettlebells.

Def gonna take that again, just for having that blod/puke taste in my mouth again… I have a friend in Sweden that would have LOVED this, so if you want to try something like this, drop Jim an email or have a look HERE! This dude kicks ass, rides hard and is still balanced… And, he´s got a thing for Army style bootcamp training!
